Building Relationships

On Saturday February 11th, I attended my first Send Out Cards training class.  I began in Send Out Cards (SOC) in 2007 and used the products for almost 2 yrs before leaving it as I began a new path in serving God through the monastic life.  In my two years with SOC I had not met anyone personally that was involved in it, I have little to no contact with the person that brought me in, and I felt quite alone in my business which led to my demise and eventual retirement from network marketing all together.  After all the leads I had purchased, all the advertisements I had bought, the money I had poured into new ways to market, the google campaigns, cold calling, ect… after all of that, I didn’t yield anything.  I felt lost and that made me angry.  Why had it not worked?  Why had I not been able to build a network and at least have some success?  It boiled down to not building relationships.

You see, I had been so intent on the sell, that I hadn’t even looked into first building friendships, learning whom I was marketing too, and hearing their stories as well as learning about their lives.  This was the one piece of puzzle I had a hard time grasping.  All the while I thought it was somewhere off in the distance, when it had been right at home.  We; you and I that is, we are creatures of habit.  From the earliest of times of our existence , business has always been built on relationships and not the cold unfriendly sell that our market tries to make us believe actually exists.

The Monastery taught me about family, about relationships, and about caring our my neighbor.  After I left the Novitiate in September, I began to think about getting back into SOC and in late October I called the company and renewed my membership.  After being gone for nearly two years many great things had changed and for one the products were 10 times better and the price had dropped nearly in half which was a wonderful advancement.    And so here I was last Saturday, traveling down 1.5 hrs to Winchester, VA on the recommendation of my sponsor.  I was nervous and apprehensive, this would be a first point of contact with another network marketer in my field and I was above all else excited  what was to come.

It was a great meeting, I showed up a few minutes late as is usual for me.  And over the next 4 hours I gained a new respect for what SOC has managed to accomplish over the time of when I first joined and then subsequently left in 2009.  I saw how awesome our products are now and how they can bring about great joy to those in need.  And I met a new friend during this training class, and if it was just to be judged on that, then the training was well worth it.

If you are a card sender, give me try, yes, Me.  Send a card and see what the company has to offer and what I can offer you in return.

Your right Jimmie, these cards are awesome! Along with the cards I sent you, I know you also enjoyed the brownies when you got your new job. If people only realized just how easy and convenient this is, not to mention how low cost.
